LYNDONVILLE - Justin Smith, Lyndon’s Zoning Administrator for more than a decade, embarked on a new role this year, as he took over with Dawn Dwyer for Dan Hill as part-time Municipal Administrator of Lyndonville back in October, as Dan began his retirement. Dan is now in the office three days a week, but it’s been a combined role for Smith, Dwyer and Hill, as they split duties when it comes to dealing with overseeing the operating departments, such as highways, water, sewer and police, of the town and village of Lyndonville. Smith sat down with NewsLINC for an interview talking about his newly appointed position among other things.

LYNDON - As the winter season approaches, the Lyndon Outing Club hosted their 3rd annual Holiday Bazaar. Founded in 1937, the Lyndon Outing Club has offered family fun for decades, and hopes to continue with the help from events like this, as well as from community members. LYNDONVILLE - Former Lyndon State College baseball coach Edward Poland, 47, of Essex Junction has been accused of embezzlement from the college's baseball program.

Lyndon State College officials contacted the Vermont State Police back in March 2013 regarding money missing from the program, shortly before Poland was forced to resign from his coaching position.

LYNDON- For 118 years the Hilltoppers of St. Johnsbury Academy and the Vikings of Lyndon Institute have taken to the football field to do battle. And now they are now considered one of the most historic and best high school football rivalries in the country.Way back in 1894 St. Johnsbury Academy and Lyndon Institute took to the field together for the first time. The Hilltoppers sent out their second team to go against Lyndon Institute's first team who were taking the field for the first time against an opponent. After St. Johnsbury took the first game 28-0, facing each other has been a tradition that the schools have continued ever since.

LYNDON- Back in 1998 Lyndon Institute took a different approach to finding it's next junior varsity field hockey coach. Rather than trying to find someone with a background in field hockey, they asked someone with a soccer background to fill the vacant spot. LYNDONVILLE - Saturday afternoon, the Lyndon State Hornets took on the Green Mountain Eagles after a shutout earlier in the day.

Lyndon controlled the game as they led 25 to 19 in the first set against their North Atlantic conference foes. The Hornets kept the game in their favor as they continued their scoring streak in the second set.

LYNDON - Northeast Kingdom Waste Management is holding a hazardous waste collection day. People in the area are requested to drop off any hazardous materials that should not be thrown away.

All waste will be collected on Saturday, September 28th, at the Lyndon Recycling Center on Church St. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
